OIG reports $503 million in recoveries for fiscal year 2020
The Office of Inspector General published its fourth quarterly report for fiscal year 2020. The report summarizes the excellent work performed by the OIG during the past four quarters.
In fiscal year 2020, the OIG recovered more than $503 million—a new record! In addition, nearly $627 million was identified for potential future recoveries, and another $106 million was achieved in cost avoidance. In fiscal year 2019, the OIG recovered nearly $421.2 million. In addition, $170.7 million was identified for potential future recoveries, and another $164.1 million was achieved in cost avoidance.
The OIG Quarterly Report details the office’s efforts this past year in detecting, preventing, and deterring fraud, waste, and abuse in the expenditure of funds in Texas health and human services programs. The Quarterly Report includes OIG’s performance metrics, identified trends seen in OIG investigations, an overview of audit and inspections reports produced, as well as other work done by the OIG.
