OIG recovers $212 million in third quarter of fiscal year 2020
The Office of Inspector General published its third quarterly report for fiscal year 2020.
In the third quarter, the OIG recovered $212 million. In addition, $50 million was identified for potential future recoveries, and another $27 million was achieved in cost avoidance. The cost avoidance amount includes funds that were not spent or used more efficiently.
The Quarterly Report shares how the OIG responded to COVID-19 while continuing to provide its best work for Texas taxpayers. It details the office’s efforts to continue detecting, preventing and deterring fraud, waste and abuse in the expenditure of funds in Texas health and human services programs. The report includes the OIG’s performance metrics, identified trends seen in OIG investigations, an overview of audit and inspections reports produced, as well as other work done by the OIG.
